About Us
Our Mission
Three Brothers Riding Stable is more than a place to learn how to ride or keep your horse. We are dedicated to teaching solid foundations in riding and horsemanship while also instilling courage, confidence, and peace. Riding provides more than exercise; it offers valuable life lessons for both young and old. Our students learn responsibility for something other than themselves, self-reliance, and the ability to make decisions for their “team.” They are gently pushed to find a new comfort level as they progress, gaining the confidence to try new things.
Our Community
Our arena is the heart of our barn. It is where friendships are formed, secrets are shared, laughter is heard, and goals are achieved. We teach life lessons through solid horsemanship, ensuring our students learn how to ride and care for horses properly. Our students often go on to accomplish great things with the lessons they learned at the barn.
Maggie Wass de Czege
Founder’s Story
Maggie Wass de Czege founded Three Brothers Riding School in 2007, fulfilling a dream to work with horses while raising her three beloved boys. Riding horses has brought structure, trust, self-reliance, a good work ethic, respect for authority, and bravery into Maggie’s life. She believes that her riding school is about developing horsemen and better young men and women. Her goal is to keep riding affordable so that the average kid can benefit from all that riding has to offer, and her students are an important extension of her family.
Family History
Maggie was born into a horse family. Her parents, Sharon and Huba Wass de Czege, were active members of the local foxhunt and riding community. Sharon began riding at a local barn, quickly joined the local foxhunt, and began show jumping. Despite not owning her own horse or having parental support, she competed at the top levels of the sport.
Huba, stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA, met Sharon and was drawn into the world of foxhunting. He was a bold and confident rider, always deferring to Sharon’s expertise. They bought their first horses together after marriage. Sharon's involvement with the local Pony Club began her lifelong passion for teaching young riders, always pushing them to work hard towards goals and freely giving her time to kids of little means.
Early Riding Education
Maggie’s riding education was very traditional, emphasizing the importance of training over showing. She started foxhunting and joined Pony Club at seven, began showing her pony, Beauty, in local hunter shows, and competed in local horse trials by the age of 12. Her family’s involvement with the Ft. Leavenworth Foxhunt and Pony Club shaped her early riding years.
Maggie continued her equestrian journey in various locations due to her family's military moves. She competed in dressage and eventing, learned from top trainers, and gained experience in both the English and Western disciplines.
Bryan, Texas
In Bryan, Maggie’s horse education became more diverse. She worked with David Kent, a cutting horse trainer, and learned about the similarities between classic training and cutting. Maggie also groomed for international trainers and worked at Granada Farms, gaining experience in breeding and starting young horses.
Beyond Riding - Continuing the Legacy
Maggie’s life experiences outside the horse world have greatly influenced her as a horseman. Growing up as an Army Brat and living in many different places taught her to appreciate diverse perspectives. Her military service as a medic, logistics officer, and paratrooper provided her with leadership skills that she now imparts to her students. Maggie’s involvement with the Boy Scouts, Texas National Guard, and her sons' activities has shaped her holistic approach to teaching and developing young riders.
Maggie’s dedication to instilling values of hard work, courage, self-reliance, and responsibility continues to drive the development of Three Brothers Riding School. Her students, both past and present, reflect the strong foundation and life lessons imparted through her guidance and expertise.
